Vintage Tilda at Just Magnolia AND PINK SWEET STUFF!!!

Happy Saturday everyone!! I hope you have had a magnificent week and are starting into an even more splendid weekend. I have had some sissy health issues but those went out the window with some very exciting and fun news I had later in the week which I will share with you REAL soon!! Let's all remember that this is now OCTOBER and be reminded that it's also Breast Cancer Awareness Month...you can bet that I will never forget that October is much more than Halloween and Columbus Day (in the US)!!! Those aggravating mammograms take but a few minutes but believe me, they can also mean the world to you and your loved ones!!!!

This week at Just Magnolia our challenge is 2 x 2. So we want to see things in pairs – 2 papers, 2 ribbons, 2 charms, 2 embellishments etc. You can combine our challenge with any other challenges of your choice and as long as the main image on your creation is a Magnolia stamp you will qualify to be in the draw for the fabulous prize. And remember NO back linking, new projects/cards only please. The challenge closes next Thursday 14th October. So I hope you will come over and join with us this week where the very nice prize is from The Cutting Cafe.

On my easel card I used 2 designer papers, 2 mats under everything, 2 stamped images, 2 types of ribbon, 2 charms, 2 gold sprays, 2 medium poinsettias, 2 small poinsettias, 2 red berries, 2 white glass snowballs, BUT...shhhhhhh...don't tell but I used 3 holly berries!!! hahahhaha So how about showing us at Just Magnolia what you can do in TWOs!!!!

For my card, I used Bazzill for the base, all double matting is PTI, and the DP is BG Jovial. All panels were machine stitched. I stamped the little darling Vintage Tilda or Tilda with Christmas Ornament on Cryogen White adding a touch of Stickles to her lace and Glossy Accents and Spica Gold to the ornament. She is from the New A Merry Little Christmas Collection 2010 at Magnolia-licious...isn't she the cutest little thing, just getting ready to decorate the tree?!?! She was cut out with Nesties leaving her little legs to dangle on the outside. For the horizontal I used 1.5" Sage Pleated Satin and Red Diamond Satin from the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop. I have a bell and a snowflake charm dangling from the Bow Easy red bow. In the upper left I used the end of a prima branch which has 2 tiny poinsettias. For the right bottom corner I used 2 medium Prima poinsettias which I outlines with Gold Stickles, then 2 gold Magnolia sprays which the lovely Tanja got for me at Stempel-Mekka 2010.....thanks so much, Sweetie!!...2 red berries, and 2 white glass snowballs. For the base I used the same 2 ribbons on the horizontal adding a second image, the Merry Christmas Post circle, adding Green Stickles and 3 (shhhhhhhhhhh) red rhinestone holly berries.

And now to help me celebrate the end of my PINK JOURNEY and to remind you of the importance of awareness, I would like to offer the first of my several PINK SWEET STUFFS this month. But first I need to ask you to do a BIG favor for me!! One of my past DT sisters from Belles 'n Whistles has just found out that she now has breast cancer...Elise Dinolfo, a lovely and vibrant 38 year old lady with a 4 year old little boy!! Please drop by her blog and leave a little bit of love along with alot of heap big hugs...I would love for you to let her know that I asked you to drop by!!!!! She will need all the love and support which each of you gave to me as I was going down that bumpy road!!!! Elise had not yet reached the magic age of 40 so had never had her first mammogram yet...she found those scary lumps herself. So ladies, do you now see why I am on the soapbox begging ALL of you to have the necessary testing and do those regular self-examinations...Breast Cancer does not show favorites at any age!!!!! Thank you sincerely!!!!

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SWEET STUFF...AND I hope you like it!!! Please leave me a comment before Friday, October 15 and I would appreciate your placing this on your blog if you have one so that every one our blogging friends will be aware of my plea!!

Hello Jacque, I followed your invitation and left words with Elise. I had a thought for you all during this week, as I prepared a project for a DT duty on friendship which will be on my blog tomorrow. My intention was to underline the importance of friendship in one's life, especially when a terrible diagnosis occurs. Since October is dedicated to Cancer awareness I created a card, trying to make the color pink "speaks" about softness, tenderness, friendship. And extend to all my fellow visitors to take a moment, and dedicate it to all who undertake this journey. Your name is mentioned as an example of courage and I will add Elise on my post. As my sunny afternoon brings me so much joie de vivre, I close my eyes, and offer this moment of peace for everyone whoes life has been changed by such a journey.
Hugs, & love.

And thanks again for your example and your generosity.

Hi Jacque ~ When I began my crafting journey at the beginning of the year, I was drawn to your blog to find inspiration and designs to help me with my own novice creations. What I found, and what kept drawing me back on a weekly basis, was your story of courage, determination and sheer will to overcome and survive. I was moved to tears on many occasions and that distant northern rumble you may have heard from time-to-time was your cheering section up here in Canada who wanted you to 'feel the love' and hopefully draw comfort and strength from it. You are an amazing woman and it has been my great pleasure to follow you on your journey and stand by cheering as you crossed the finish line!! Well done Jacque!!

Hiya Jaques,I am Casper pleased to meet you!

You are a one of a group of very special ladies - I call us SURVIVORS.

If anyone doubts your comment about cancer knowing no age boundaries - Then believe me it does not discriminate with age - I was 34 !

This is a great time & a great blog Jaques to open people up to dangers of thinking there are too young.

Yes this is heavy stuff, blogs are for fun & hobbies.I am very new to blogging but I see it as a community of people in a support system.

I had 2 mastectomies one elective, complications, both ovaries removed.Miss the babies I could have had.

Sadness is a very big part of life.
But LIFE means survival.

Girls check & keep checking your lady bits,I was lucky I found my lump it was classed as a subtle tumour.Took my GP a while to understand but I got refered to the Hospital Breast Unit.

I will jump over to your friends blog Jaques.

Sending you congrats on your survival & wishing you strength, love & hugs.

I have a card that I have just designed "Marching for Survival"

"For you my Sisters"

When we all band together,
We march forward for our Sisters,

Radiate your love & hope like Rainbows to colour our Sisters lives with light & hope.
Show & give strength in numbers.

The Magnolia card was adorable! I just finsihed reading the poem and Casper's ramblings! I join her and you as being a Survivor! It has been 20 years for me and I found my own lump, so everyone needs to do those self exams. Also, mammograms are so important. Your blog is so wonderful Jacques, and I think you have the means to send this message to so many people. Keep up the good work! At present I am making cards to give to a friend whose mother just started chemo. I'm hoping the cards will cheer her up and tell her she is not alone in this fight! I also put some "pink ribbon" cards in our doctor's office for display and our doctor's bought all of the employees "pink ribbon" shirts to wear during October! Our doctors are podiatrists and also will sponsor some walks for breast cancer for us.

This is a stunning Christmas card xx

Breast Cancer is so wicked. I know several ladies (family & friends) who have suffered or is suffering from breast cancer!

Screening should be made before you reach 40!!
BUT
it is curable if caught early enough.

You come across as a very high spirited women xx

Our Nursery school is raising funds for Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing anything PINK, this includes Early Years Practitioners & Children xx

My heart goes out to both of you. My very best friend found out she had Breast Cancer, stage 2 and for 3 months I held her hand and found out as much as I could (leaving out the bits I didn't think she needed to hear) Too much info can be a bad thing!!! Then came the day I found my lump!!! It couldn't be surely, I had the various tests and was finally told the lump was Benign (relief) however my consultant decided to remove the lump and two weeks later I was told I had stage 3 aggressive (the cancer was hiding behind the lump)I had to have another (bigger) operation but count myself lucky to have the original lump out. Two years later I have just recently had my last herceptin.

OMG this is the 1st time I've told this story. Sorry to go on... Sending much love to both of you, and please question ANY changes to your breasts. Ooo and tell your men, which is just as important. My husband survived aggressive Testicular cancer (which had spread) 15yrs ago now. I guess we're both lucky really.

Hugs Wendy x

Thank you thank you thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart! Elise is one of my dearest and bestest blogging buddies! She means the world to me and then some. The news of her Breast Cancer brought me to my knees and left me aching with sadness. It really tore me up inside. I shed rivers of tears because the most loving, sweetest women I know would have to endure such a thing as fighting Breast Cancer. When I came to visit Maggies world and saw your post for Elise I felt so much happiness that she will have you as a true inspiration. We've been here for you for months while you baddled and beat Cancer. Cried for you, prayed for you and rooted for you all the way. You've been such an inspiration to us all. As a woman, a fighter, an artist and now a survivor!!!! Big hugs for you! Bonnie
