Wanna Be My Valentine at Just Magnolia???

Happy Friday evening!! And the good news is that the heating installer has promised me that there will be HEAT when he leaves my house tomorrow...of course it is now 12 degrees F and will drop to less than 10 tonight...not only do I have every heat apparatus in the house running but also the washer and dryer humming and the faucets all dripping...lolol

On a much lighter note, this is my Just Magnolia card for this week where the requirement is Paper Pleating. We were instructed by the magnificently and unbelievably talented Mina over on the Just Magnolia blog in an extremely well written and illustrated tutorial on how to perform this technique. Thank you so much, Mina, for the excellent tutorial! I sincerely hope that all of you will join us and show us your interpretation of paper pleating!!! Please let me say that I did all of my pleating using the miracle machine (smile) Scor-Pal!!! I would never have attempted the precise folds without the Scor-Pal....this made it so much easier to fold to my exact measurements!!!! AND the pleats held so securely with Scor-Tape...reminds me that I better call Diana, because I am almost out YET again...lolol

For my card I used Bazzill for the base, all double matting is PTI, and the DP is from MM Love Notes and the dots are 3ndypapir.no. I used the darling Valentine Tilda from the 2009 Collection from Magnolia-licious and colored her with Copics. The base panels are machine stitched and I added some trim with red cherry blossoms, a couple of heart pins, some very narrow satin ribbon and bows for Tilda to sit on and finally a heart gem to match the hearts at the bottom of her dress...

The inside uses the same papers as the front, a grosgrain ribbon and slide on the first panel, and a satin ribbon with heart charm for the jotting spot. I also made a coordinating canister using the same trims and filled it with yummy chocolate truffles for some lucky winner!! All you have to do is leave a comment and a winner will be selected on Monday, January 11, at noon EDT

Thank you so much for dropping by to see what's happening in my Magnolia world!!! I hope you will come back often!! I hope your world tonight is a bit warmer than mine is...lol...Great big Maggie hugs for everyone!!!!

I love the card and the canister and the paper pleating, can't wait to try this out. I know how you feel about the heat, I have been without heat for 3 days and it is freezing here and snow and ice on the ground and then yesterday my hot water heater went out. Got the hot water fixed today and hopefully heat tomorrow. I wish I had a "REALLY" long extension cord so I could carry my electric blanet around with me..LOL
Great job as usual.

Good to know you will finally have some heat, our boiler broke a couple of weeks ago and we had a tempory fix within a couple of hours , and my 15 year old was complaining and our temperatures weren't near your lows so I think I would have gone mad if we had been without heat for as long as you have. Love the card its so vibrant and warm and the gift box is divine too, you are so clever it would take me forever to create something as beautiful thanks for sharing and stay warm Julye

Jacque, Love the red mini polka dot pleats. I will have to try that technique. You always add such wonderful interesting details to your cards in so many surprising ways. Thanks for sharing and the treat canister is gorgeous too. I live in MN and we have cold temps all winter and snow, and there have been times I have had every imaginable heating appliance in use. I suggest a hair dryer to warm the toes LOL! It works! Hugs and warm wishes, Martha

Hope your heating is sorted soon - our house isn't very warm at the moment and our heating is fully working - we've had ice on the inside of our downstairs windows for three days (actually melted today though) - we really do need to get double glazed!!
