Happy Day, Everyone!! I hope you had a marvelous week and are already enjoying a splendid weekend. We are having amazingly HOT weather but I am not complaining!! I remember snow and ice and I quickly forget how warm it is!!!
This week at Lili's Little Fairies Challenge our theme is PLAYTIME and what could be more fun than that theme?? We hope you will come on over and join in with us this week and give us your idea of Time to Play!!! This week there is a very nice prize available for some lucky winner.
For my card I used the cute and sweet Pirate Bear who is just having a blast pretending he is a pirate on a fun expedition! The image was stamped on X-Press It and colored with Copics and Flexmarkers. The base and all double matting is Bazzill and the DPs are from the MME Kraft Funday paper pad. For the horizontal I used some hemp string and the rest of the embellies are from a button pack...gold doubloons, pirate ship, and pirate hat.
On the inside I used more buttons--Pirate chest, sword, and treasure map.

I wanted to share something with you.
I mom, 85 had a heart attack in April. her old bypasses were getting blocked. She has other heart issues and has a pacemaker. They won't bypass or stent. So, basically she is a walking timebomb. While she was in the hospital for that, she showed me 9and the doctor and MORE than visible and palpable lump above her breast. Diagonally between the Sternum and her pacemaker. I said well it could be a fattty cyst, it is too far away from the pacemaker to be scar tissue, she said it hurts. The doctor said, fatty cysts don't hurt (at least not like she was hurting and needed pain meds) he further told her they would investigate it after she was home and they were done working with meds to get her heart calm. She saw a breast specialist in May, She straight out told my mom it was 90% cancer. they biopsied it 2 days later...positive...they told her there are 15 different breast CA's and that she had one of the less aggressive ones. They did a mammo 3 days later, it showed that this lump was just the tip of the iceberg. they suggested that they remove the lump, and do nothing more. That it would be 1/4 to 1/3 of breast tisue gone. My mom won't do it. This upsets me and I have let her know my feelings about getting a 2nd opinion and having it taken out. but all her doctors feel her heart will do her in before the CA...HOWEVER in my mind I am wondering how fast this will become painful, and affect the quality of her life? She was almost dead due to a simple hernia surgery about 10 years ago, the surgeon perforated her colon, and she got peritonitis and almost died, so she said she is not having any other surgeries.
NOW, she tells my sister and I that her mother died of breast CA.
Additionally (and this one is the kicker, as in I am going to kick HER)
she found the lump 2 years ago and did nothing about it. My sister was so upset, she was like Mom you have 2 daughters why haven't you told us sooner? (she is going to be 61 on 7/4, and I turned 52 on friday) I also said that men get breast ca also, so we all should have been told.
All this time we have been telling doctors there is no HX of breast CA in the family.
How do you like that crap!?
so my mom is slowly dying, and My hubs has been in the hospital for 10 days now, he was septic, and while in there they noticed he has contratures of both feet and ankles (from his diabetes), so now he is in the rehab part and getting some help. his glucose is still jumping allover the place (as it has for the 27+ years that I have been with him) and his BP and heart rate are up due to the infection.
Life is crazy right now. But I wanted to share the story of my mom with you.
I was a complete wreck for a few weeks but i told her the other day it is her body and her right to say what she wants and I will be there for her.
However, it does not make the sadness and the anger any better.
