Anything Goes at Wild Orchid Challenge!!

 

 

A very happy last day of the old year to everyone!!! I hope that you have enjoyed 2012 and are looking forward to the New Year 2013 with much anticipation for a marvelous year!! I don't know where this year has gone and I am hoping that this new year will move along a little slower so that I can remember at least a part of it...smiles!!

 

For this fortnight at Wild Orchid Challenge it is ANYTHING GOES so what could be more fun than that?? And of course there is always a marvelous surprise from the Wild Orchid Crafts shop for some lucky participant!! So come on over and join in with us so we can check out your marvelous creations!! For my card I have used Bazzill for the base and all double matting and the DP is from the MME Lucky In Love paper pad. The sweet image, Bella Sole Special Delivery, designed by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps, was colored with Copics and Promarkers, adding a touch of Stardust Stickles to all of the flowers. All of the embellishments are from Wild Orchid Crafts: Satin Ribbon, Guipure Lace, Gold Cording, Heart Charm, Trellis Rose, Cottage Roses, Lilies, and Self-Adhesive Pearls.

For my project today I used the darling little Strawberry Dreamer and a sentiment from the Vintage Thank You Tags set to create a little fabric gift bag.

 

 

 

The cute image was colored with Copics and Promarkers, adding a bit of Stardust Stickles for some sparkle. The DP is from the Doodlebug Sweet Cakes paper pad. I only added some pre-gathered organza trim and red satin ribbon all around the top of the bag.

 

 

For the back of the bag I used the same DP and simply added a strawberry charm to the sentiment oval.

For my card today I used the NEW Bella Sole Gifts of Love and a sentiment from the NEW Just A Note Notables 6 cut out with the NEW Notables 6 Die.

 

The base and all double matting is Bazzill and the DP is from the AC 5th and Frolic Paper Pad. The image was colored with Copics and Promarkers, adding a touch of Stardust Stickles for the lace on her dress and apron. I added a few tiny pearls to the sentiment and the doily is a MS diecut. To finish the card I used just a few flowers, organza ribbon, and a gorgeous butterfly pin made by my sweet friend Gunilla.

It's Hot Apple Cider Time!!! Winner!!

 

Happy Monday everyone!!! I am sorry I have been missing in action but I just cannot get into the swing of things!!! I have been so distraught by the heinous events in Newtown, CT, that I can't get motivated to do anything. As a retired teacher (although at the college level), the slaughter of those innocent children along with those who had the educational best interests of those children at heart, has me so devastated. I have been so very haunted by the loss of everything precious in a civilized society!!! I can make no sense at all out of such a senseless act!

 

Today I am showing a little project that I made for the October 2012 Issue of the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Magazine which you can find right HERE. Of course I used a darling image from the Merry Christmas Whimsy Prints Collection called Two Turtle Doves. Isn't she darling!!! I used the directions for the Mini Accordion File, changing the method of closing it a little bit. The double matting is Bazzill and the DP is from Simple Stories Handmade Holiday Collection. I only added some Stardust Stickles, organza ribbon, holly leaves and red pearls and I was done. Here is a view of what the inside looks like...

You can see that I used red business envelopes for the inside and within each pocket I placed a pack of hot apple cider mix. This neat little file could be used for images, hot chocolate mix, embellies, or even a few stamps.

More Cuppycakes!!

A very Happy Thursday to everyone! I hope your holiday season is moving right along with lots of joy and fun times! I don't know about you, but I can't remember all of that time between last Christmas and this one!!! How in the world can time pass so quickly??

Cupcake Surprise! SWEET STUFF!!

 

A very happy day to everyone!! I hope your week is going along without a hitch and you are able to accomplish everything on your list of Things To Do!! Gosh, when I have ventured out into the world, it seems that everyone is in a RUSH and I just can't be rushed!!! So I guess I will be hiding out until after the holidays...hahahah

 

I was sitting around looking for something to play with and I remembered some little papier mache cupcake boxes that I have had forever and decided to have a play with some of them. If I remember correctly they are from Michaels or Joanns and cost so very little...less than $1 each, I think. They measure about 3 1/2" (8.5 cm) tall so that will give you an idea of how small they are.  But I needed several small presentation boxes for gift cards and small gifts that I thought this would be something QUICK and EASY and I was right! Here's what these little boxes look like at the beginning...

 

The first thing I did was to cover them with a couple of coats of acrylic paint--I wanted the bottoms to look like chocolate and I wanted to make the toppings in pink. I have only finished the first one but I really do have a couple of ideas for the next two....wink!

 

Then I just started gluing Pink Cottage Roses all over the top of the cupcake and where there were gaps I added some pink acrylic flowers with some sparkly rhinestone centers, I finished the top with a couple of fluffy bows made from Vintage Seam Binding, a couple of tiny Maya Road heart pins, and a Prima teacup pin. Around the upper edge of the chocolate bottom I added some pre-gathered lace with some Pearl Drop Trim. See how quick and easy this was!!!! I will put the little surprises in a wee organza bag for the inside and all finished!! I think these would make the sweetest favors for a ladies' get-together or placed on a tiered cupcake server. What do you think??

Seeing that pre-gathered lace on the cupcake I was reminded that I have an EXTRA Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Set of Eyelet Lace that I would love to send to one of my FOLLOWERS!!!  If I will be shipping outside the US, I will remove all of the packaging so that the shipping will not be so very much. Christmas Friendship!!!

 

A very happy Monday to everyone!!! I hope you all had a magnificent weekend and have been able to have some fun along the way! I have been out only briefly and I have determined that shoppers are crazy!!! hahaha So if you have to be out and about shopping, please be safe and roll with the punches!!

 

Today begins a new challenge at Wild Orchid Challenge and for this fortnight the theme is Friendship Christmas...what could be more fun and appropriate for this time of year???  As always, there is a wonderful surprise for some lucky participant from the Wild Orchid Crafts Shop and we hope you will come over and join with us so we can see your wonderful creations! Please pay attention to the rules on the sidebar...they are very simple actually...No more than two other challenges and use at least one Wild Orchid Crafts product. For my card I used another Whimsy Print from the Christmas Joy Prints Collection and added some Prisma Glitter to the glow around the lamp and Stickles for the holly berries. The sentiment is from the Tis the Season Notables 5 set designed by the  marvelously talented Ann Vento and cut out with a Notables 5 Die. Everything else on the card is from Wild Orchid Crafts: Folded Paper Doily, Mulberry Leaves, Cottage Rose, Open Roses, Hip Rosebuds, Satin Ribbon, and Self Adhesive Rhinestones. The base and all double matting is Bazzill and the DP is from the EP Very Merry Christmas Pad ( I think).

Tis the Season!!! SWEET STUFF!!

 

A very happy Thursday to everyone! I hope your week is going along very well and that you are enjoying each and every moment of it! I'm sure that many of you are treading water over all of the demands of the holiday season...but just slow down and smell the poinsettias...hahahah...I have one in my living room but not sure it has a scent at all!!!

 

This is a card I made for the October 2012 Issue of the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations Magazine which you can find right HERE. Of course I used a darling image from the Merry Christmas Whimsy Prints Collection. The base and all double matting is Bazzill and the DP is from the BoBunny Rejoice Collection. To add another layer, the image was placed on a square paper doily. The Satin Ribbon, tied over the top corners into  double flat bows, are topped with holly buttons from my stash. The bottom floral treatment consists of 15mm Open Roses, a 25mm Open Rose, Carnations, and several large holly berries. The front was finished with more holly buttons on the bottom corners.

I wanted to take a moment to share with you a note from Denise at Whimsy Stamps since we are in the middle of a PRINTS Blog Hop and we all know how those computer gremlins can sometimes change the best laid plans........

To Our Valued Customers and Friends:

Over the past week some of you may have noticed intermittent problems with our website resulting in loss of carts, log in problems, and security errors. We apologize for any frustration this may have caused.

During our attempts to diagnose and correct the issues, we have discovered some problems with our current hosting provider and their servers. In an effort to serve our customers better, we have made the decision to switch providers and move our shop to new servers.

This change/move will require our site to be shut down for a number of hours this weekend. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This change will also result in a delay of our regularly scheduled monthly digital release. But as soon as we are back up and running as normal we will release all the fabulous new images...including those from our brand new digital artist Marika Collins!

Our goal is to provide our customers with the best quality of service possible. We thank you for your patience at this time. We will make every effort to have this transition go as smoothly and as quickly as possible. Thank you for your continued support of Whimsy Stamps and our artists!
