Loving Edwin at Friday Sketchers

Happy Friday, everyone!! I hope you have had a wonderful week and are looking forward to a marvelous weekend! Although it is warm during the day here, we are still having cool nights and chilly mornings...brrrrr...makes moving in the mornings a little slower!! lol But most of the roses are starting to bloom...I only have over 175 bushes so you know what I do to stay busy!!

Today is Friday Sketchers day where we have a brand new and exciting sketch for the next week. I hope you will have a look and try to join us. This week's sketch is by Claudia from the USA and it is quite interesting, at least for me.

Of course you can turn the sketch any way you wish and since my image was a vertical one I attempted to follow the sketch just as it is presented by Claudia. As a reminder, if you participated last week, please remember to check this week's post to see if you won any of the prizes and need to send your address to the person who will present their surprise and their respective card. Good luck to all the participants!!!

The winner of my card and surprise is Marit - MaritO's papirblogg. Congratulations Marit...please contact me with your address!!

Congratulations also to Tanja - Stampin' Piper who will be the Guest Designer at Friday Sketchers for the next 3 months!!

Here is my attempt at this week's sketch:

My 6"x6" card uses Bazzill CS for the base and PTI Pure Poppy and Lemon Tart for all matting. The DP was a gift and I think it may be a digital paper set. For the front of the card I used Loving Edwin from the Love Collection 2009 which you can find at Magnolia-licious. Diana's shop has the largest selection of Magnolias in North America and it is offering free shipping to the US and Canada with a $50 or more order; for less than a $50 order shipping will be only $2.50.

I stamped Edwin twice so that he could have as much dimension as the balloons. All coloring on the card is done with Copics. Since I needed for the image to be taller to fit the sketch, I added two more balloons and used balloon shaped buttons tied with embroidery floss. I used a Spica pen to give some shine to his buttons. I also added a little whimsey with buttons of a turtle with a blue propeller beanie and a porcupine holding a red balloon to go strolling with Edwin!! Aren't they cute?? I used candlewicking for the strings and finished the front with red brads to soften the corners.

The inside of the card uses either the same or coordinating DP from the front. The first panel is trimmed with yellow rickrack and bright enamel star buttons. The jotting panel is actually a magnolia stamp also--School Slate/Blackboard from the So Heavenly, Travel, and School Collection 2008, which can also be found at Magnolia-licious. I added a little bronze school clip to the upper corner of the slate which can be used for a gift card or note. Finally both panels were finished with tiny red brads.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the way I have used Loving Edwin and the School Slate and will let me know what you think!! Also, I would like to invite you over to Friday Sketchers to see the really wonderful cards made by the other members of the Design Team.

There is still plenty of time to participate in the Butterfly Wings Challenge and the DT Sketch Challenge over at Magnolia-licious -- both run through the end of May. Please mail the pics of your cards to ladydian@shaw.ca.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you will return often to see what Tilda and Edwin are up to!! I wish for everyone an enjoyable and safe weekend!! Hugs!!
