Happy Monday Everyone!!! Best wishes for a wonderful week!!
Wow, Sharon! What a fun sketch you have created for us this month!! I hope that everyone will join us by participating in this exciting and very versatile sketch challenge for the month of May. Be sure to mail a pic of your card to Diana at ladydian@shaw.ca in order for her to place it in the May Sketch Challenge Gallery on the web site of Magnolia-licious.
One of my Mom's nurses (my Mom is in a Life Care Center after suffering a massive stroke 2 years ago) asked me to make her daughter a birthday card for her 16th birthday and asked if I could do the card in black and white with a touch of red. I decided that I would do this card using Sharon's sketch...great job Sharon!!! The challenge on The Corrosive Challenge Blog is to create a birthday card (honoring Janet's birthday this week. Happy Birthday, Janet!!) So you can decide if I met the requirements of the sketch, the requirements for the nurse, and those of the challenge blog.
I selected the cutest little Tilda with Tag from the Valentine Collection 2009 which can be found along with all of her pals and accessories at Magnolia-licious, the home of the largest selection of Magnolia stamps in all of North America. I used Bazzill CS for the card base and PTI Black and Pure Poppy for all matting and Cryogen White which has a bit of gold sparkle. The checked DP is actually gift wrap. I also used 3 types of coordinating ribbon which reminds me of alpine trims. All panels are stitched and not very well this time...I guess the machine needs a service job...sigh
On the front of the card I completed all the ribbon work first. Then I painted a chipboard frame with black acrylic paint then brushed it lightly with a touch of green to match the green in the ribbon and finally affixed rose buttons, which match the roses in the ribbon, to the corners. I then lined the frame with the red check DP, propped the frame up on dimensional tape, and finally sat Little Tilda in the frame, propping her up so that she would be even with the frame. Tilda is colored with Copics and the grommet on the tag is gold Spica. I intend to add the daughter's name on the tag before I give it to the nurse.
The inside of the card uses the same DP and some same and coordinating ribbon from the front ribbon. I also added a rose button on one panel to dangle a brass heart. On the jotting panel I used the same ribbon treatment from the front of the card to add to the continuity. I also turned the square jotting space diagonally to add a bit of interest and finally affixed 2 heart buttons to the upper and lower corners of the square.
So how did I do on those 3 sets of requirements?? Please leave this little girl a note or a hug...she's not picky!!!
Remember the Butterfly Challenge...I have been wracking my brain to come up with ideas. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!!!!
Best wishes to everyone for a magnificent week!! Get those butterfly cards and sketch challenge cards started...you have til the end of May!!! Hugs to everyone!!

Wow, Jacque, what a creation. You come up with such great ideas. It has a Bavarian/Black Forest flair, with the checkered designs and especially that ribbon.
