On a sad note....but on a happy note!!

To All Of My Sweet Friends Here:

I wanted you all to know that my beloved Mom passed away yesterday, Sunday morning, after a very long battle in her later years. She lived 81 years and enriched my life each of my days. Many of you have asked where I get my inspiration and my desire to share of myself...and in one word that is MOM. I wanted to share the tribute I have written for her service which will be on Wednesday. Perhaps this will give you a tiny glimpse into who I want to be like when I grow up...smiles!!

A Tribute to our Mom and Sister
Martha Kate Maxwell Lancaster

Not only have we lost the the best mom and sister, but we have lost our best friend. But let us not dwell on the loss, but rather on our good fortune in having you as long as we did! We appreciate the many lessons you inculcated in us and hopefully we can continue to live up to your every expectation. Mom, we celebrate you and the tremendous influence you have had on us.

Your obituary calls you MOM and you have epitomized that loving and caring word to not only us but to so many of the people whose lives you have touched. Throughout the years you became MOM to so many people…even the staff at the Life Care Center knew you as MOM.

You taught us to care for those less fortunate than we are and to share our talents and worldly goods with those who come into our lives that they may be made richer by our example. We recognize your care and concern for the downtrodden and those in distress and hopefully we will remember the responsibility you have left with us. You taught us that whatever we have becomes much more important and beautiful when it is shared with others. Your generosity will always be sweet in our memory. Who else takes homemade apple butter, cakes, pies, etc to their doctor’s appointments and to their salesladies at Penney‘s???

You always charged us to be responsible, honest citizens, knowing the difference between right and wrong, with much more concern for others than ourselves. Hopefully we all exemplify that teaching. Your credo was do for others without any demands or expectations that others do for us. You taught us that no matter what misfortunes befall us, that there are always those less fortunate. Let us never forget that!

You shared yourself in so many ways with everyone one you came in contact with! Your wonderful culinary delights, your hand-crafted jewelry, your crocheted items, your hand painted clothing, your flowers….For you, giving was ALWAYS paramount to receiving! Your love for humanity and the deep feelings you had for shut-ins and those without much love in their lives was so apparent in your everyday life and practice.

Your love of life and certainly the unconditional love you had for your family can never be surpassed. No matter if what we did was right or wrong we knew that Mom would always be there for us, and help us through any rough patches that we might experience!

Mom, you have been the strength of our family and there is not another mom anywhere who has been loved and respected as much as you have! But we also know the love and respect you always showered on us.

No matter how much you suffered, you always had a smile for all to see so that their lives would be made much richer by being around you. You never complained but rather concerned yourself with how you might help others. Let us be ever mindful of that suffering you experienced and the way you always handled it with dignity and grace and a love and concern for others.

The calling card that you handed out to all of those who crossed your path perhaps says it all because it is truly how you lived your life…

This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I see fit. I can waste it or use it for good and be of service to others. But what I do with this day is important because I have exchanged a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever, leaving something I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, not loss; good, not evil; success, not failure; so that I won’t regret the price I paid for it.
Kate Lancaster

Mom, now that you fly with the angels on high, watching over all of us, tapping us on the shoulder from time to time when we need it, know that we will always honor, cherish, love and respect our memory of you! You are precious in our memory!!

Jacque, Stan and Jane

Her obituary is HERE.

And now on a happy note...I have pre-posted for tomorrow and Wednesday so I hope you will come see what's in store for you...and I will draw the winner of my last SWEET STUFF tomorrow also. Sending big hugs your way!

  12. Oh Jacque so beautiful! I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't think it matter's how old we are, we need our Mom's. I was blessed to with a wonderful Mother who I miss so much! I think we are both so blessed to have had a Mom such as ours. Not everyone in this world is blessed with a Mom like ours. I know even though my Mom is singing with the Angel's, (she loved angels and songs of the angels) I feel her close to me each and everyday, and know that you will too! There's a song called Don't worry about me, and when I hear that song, I know it's my Mom saying I'm o.k. Big hugs and Love and I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers. Love, Leah Ann

  18. Here is the lyrics to the song, and it's sang by Alan Jackson. I know it says young, but age doesn't matter.

    DON'T WORRY BOUT ME
Why did she have to go
So young I just don't know why
    Things happen half the time
    Without reason without rhyme
    Lovely, sweet young woman
    Daughter, wife and mother
    Makes no sense to me
    I just have to believe

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
    Don't worry 'bout me

    Loved ones she left behind
    Just trying to survive
    And understand the why
    Feeling so lost inside
    Anger shot straight at God
    Then asking for His love
    Empty with disbelief
    Just hoping that maybe

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
    Don't worry 'bout me

    It's hard to say goodbye
    Her picture in my mind
Will always be of times I'll cherish
    And I won't cry 'cause

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
    Don't worry 'bout me
    Don't worry 'bout me
    Don`t worry 'bout me

I am so sorry for your loss and feel for you greatly, but grateful to your mom for raising such a loving, giving individual, whom always thinks of her fellow man/woman before herself, and if there were more such as you in this world Jacque, it would be a harmonious place! I know your mom is watching over you and always will until you are together again! (hopefully not for a very long time) I wrote about your talent in our emails last week and i would love you to continue sharing your wealth of knowledge, talent and creative mind with us for many years to come, and you learned from a very special lady, your mom!! When i think of creative, generous, loving and friendship, i think of one word, Jacque! lots of love and crafty hugs for you sweet lady, Vick xxxx R.I.P sweet mom xx

  38. I am so sorry for your loss. i hope these words are of comfort to you and your family at this time...

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
    "Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and there are other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" Amen

  52. Your tribute to her is so tender and sweet. It is so difficult to say those final farewells to a mother. The ache lasts for longer than the loss of any other and while over time it will not be as raw, it never really goes away. The little things you want to ask her or the moment you want to pick up the phone to tell her some little thing that you know she would love to hear brings it all back. Take time for yourself and your family.

I can't imagine what you are going through right now but I only pray that God brings you the peace and serenity that you need along this journey. It is a journey, not the end, but to a wonderful reunion to come someday.

  128. My condolences to you, Jacque. I just lost my mom on Sept. 9th ~ she had been declining in health for the last year, and she began to rapidly decline at the end of summer. She was 87 and had Alzheimer's, and I think she just gave up hope when the disease really took hold a few months ago. It's a difficult thing to get past, but I try to think of some special memory of her to get me through each day.

  134. I am so sorry for your loss, but it also sounds like you "have" a wonderful Mother, she no longer walks the Earth but she will always be your "Mother". She sounds like she was a remarkable and very wonderful woman. I just lost my Mother to breast cancer on July 31st, she sounds a lot like your Mother, she is the person responsible for my creative passion, she was my best friend and I miss her dearly, but she would not want me to be sad, she would want me to remember the good times and to be happy she is no longer in a broken body but healthy, happy and with my Father again. I know they watch over me and my Sisters and our families. I hope that you will find peace and comfort in her being free now and that you had her for many wonderful years and hold her close to your heart and memories for she will always be with you!
Sending you and your family my prayers!
    Hugs,
    Pendra

  136. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. I'm so sorry for your loss but as you said, you were so blessed to have her with you as long as you did.

Yesterday was the 1 year ANGELversary of my daughter, Jessica. You were so sweet to leave me a little love on her obituary and I still appreciate it so much.

I believe that we are surely blessed to have such amazing people in our lives. Even though I only had my daughter on earth for 22 years, she is with me forever and it will be such a joyful reunion when I return "home" and can see her again. I'm sure you must feel the same way about your mother.

Love and ((hugs)) headed to you and your family,
    Nancy

  144. Dearest Jacque~

It is Wednesday, and I am only finding out now. Sweetie, you and your family are in my prayers, and I pray that you will all draw even closer together to get through this difficult time. I believe that your Mom is feeling no pain or sorrow forever more.

Thank you for sharing your Tribute to your Mom with us. You have surely lived up to your Mom's hopes and desires for your life. You are truly the generous, loving, giving, open, intelligent person she wanted to watch grow. Please, Jacque, take care of yourself-especially during this time, when your routine may be changed.

And, she is still teaching...through your words of her. For, I see qualities that I do not believe I possess, and that I would want to have in my life. I would especially want my son to see such qualities in me. I will work towards these areas to be a better person. Thank you for sharing the Tribute again. It brought tears to my eyes and change to my life.

I pray that you will find comfort with your friends, family and friends who care about you through the Internet. And, I pray that you will find comfort in the Lord's everlasting arms of peace and love, most of all.

Please email me if I can do anything for you.

    He IS Able!
