Your Invitation to a Proper English Tea

A very happy Wednesday to each of you!! My goodness, my yard says spring is here and my lawn mower is calling out my name LOUDLY!! But, it's much better than SNOW so I won't complain!!

I wanted to join in on the new challenge at Just Magnolia because I do learn so much through sketch challenges. Try it, you may enjoy it also. This first week's challenge is very interesting to me and I always try to stay just as close to the challenge as possible while placing my unique touch on the sketch. I hope you think that I was successful!

I selected a very cute one of our little darlin's, who, in my vivid imagination, is making preparation for all of you since she has invited you to a proper English tea. I used Tilda with Rolling Pin from the So Heavenly, Travel, and School Collection 2008 for the front of the card. I stamped and colored her twice with Copics and cut her out so that she could be propped up on dimensional tape. For the inside of the card, to show the fruits of Tilda's labors, I used the Love Muffin from the Love Collection 2009. Both of these stamps are available at Magnolia-licious, which has the largest on-line selection of Magnolia stamps in all of North America.

I selected papers from Creamotion, a Dutch company. As you can tell, I used alot of dimension on this card by double matting. I satisfied the requirement of the stripe on the left panel by sewing rolling pin buttons on the panel and lacing them with red organza ribbon, ending at the top with a fluffy bow. I added pearl trim to make the circle element a bit more tactile. The Hello in the sentiment position was computer-generated using Edwardian Script and is enclosed in a brass frame on which I adhered a teacup and teapot. I finished the front of the card with two 3-layer flowers -- felt, Prima, small roses.

I continued the double matting on the inside of the card using either the same or coordinating Creamotion DP. I used the Love Muffin, colored with Copics, on one panel, and a matted nestie on the jotting panel. The frosting is Liquid Applique. In addition, I continued the pearl trim from the front circle to the inside of the card to maintain consistency in tone. Tiny red bows actually hide the joint of the trim on each matted nestie.

I hope my description has been helpful. If I can assist any of you, please don't hesitate. As I have said, I find things to use on my cards in very out of the way places sometimes. If I can help you to locate strange things, just let me know.

I hope you enjoyed your afternoon tea and hope you will come back and visit again. Hugs for each of you...toodles til the next time!!
