Shabby Chic at Wild Orchid Challenge

Welcome to Monday and to the start of what I hope is a fabulous week for everyone!! I am thinking that our oppressive heat is dissipating and maybe we will have a little bit cooler weather and a bit of liquid sunshine! I hope that no matter where you are, that the weather is wonderful and that you are enjoying your summer!

Today is the first day of the new challenge at Wild Orchid Challenge and we have been asked to use SHABBY CHIC as our theme. I have difficulty with that theme so I am hoping that my project will fit within that idea!! Please come on over and join in with us as you can be assured that there will be a magnificent surprise from Wild Orchid Crafts, as always! We would love to see your interpretation of the theme this week!!!

For my project I decorated a MS black fabric covered shadowbox measuring 8.75" X 1.5" X 11.25" (22.2cm X 3.8cm X 28.6cm) just to give you an idea of the size. Every single embellishment I used is from the marvelous shop at Wild Orchid Crafts!! First I encircled the entire top rim of the box with Flat Back White Pearl String. At the top of the box I used White Pearl String for the swag anchored with double flat bows made with 1" Pale Pink Silk Ribbon. The lower left corner floral treatment, resting on a base of white Guipure Lace is made with 1 1/3" Trellis Roses, 1" Open Roses, 5/8" Open Roses, Pale Pink Poppies, 3/8" Open Roses, double flat bows made with Satin Ribbon, and Baby Pink Crown Pins.

For the inside of the shadowbox I used a Venise Lace Square Frame turned on its edge with a Venise Lace Heart and a Beautiful Lady Cameo topped with another double flat bow made with Satin Ribbon.

I hope you like my little creation and will decide to join in with us at the Wild Orchid Challenge this week!!!

Thank you so much for coming by and I hope you will want to come by often!! Until the next time, I send big hugs to each of you!!!

Love your card Jacque, so elegant. And how unusual, a card by you without a coloured image. Hugs, Frea

Your usual makes have a very distinct Jacque style which is not in evidence here. I would never have guessed that you had made it but it is just as beautiful as all your creations and I hope you had lots of fun doing something so different and so lovely! Hugs, Lesley

Beautiful Jacque!

I, too, have difficulty with the theme of "Shabby Chic", although your work doesn't show it at all!

I wish there was someone who would define it...is it the same as Vintage? Or is it nice materials but roughed up a bit? Or is it a certain time frame? Anything- Grandma-ish? If you find what qualifies, or what materials are a must, would you please let us know?

Maybe Shabby Chic always has bows and off white-paper or something like that.

I love this piece you did. The lace is beautiful as is the cameo...LOVE CAMEOS! This looks so elegant!

I love Shabby Chic but I struggle with it too, the difference is; with me it shows! This is a gorgeous piece, all the details marry so well (love those poppies - oh oh, I feel a purchase coming on, lol) TFS, Donna ☺

You don't need to define anything. Just keep doing what you do best...beautiful!!! And this is definitely beautiful. It reminds me of the neckline of a brides dress with the strand of pearls and cameo. Gorgeous!

I have been working on Christmas cards in the heat and playing Christmas music. No rush or time lines, just enjoying the process. :)
