Wild Orchid Challenge...Let's Get Sentimental, WINNER, and SWEET STUFF!!!
Happy Monday everyone. I am hoping you all had a marvelous weekend and are beginning a great week! I can't believe I had a weekend without snow!!! AND the snow is melting away...yipppppeeeee!!! This week is a visit to my oncologist and to my radiologist so would you please just cross your fingers for me??? THANKS!!!! It's almost impossible to believe that my breast cancer journey started already more than a year ago....whew!!!!! Now back to HAPPY thoughts!!!!!!!
Today at Wild Orchid Challenge we begin a new challenge for the next two weeks which is Let's Be Sentimental....so just use a sentiment on your card/project! There is a fabulous prize given, as usual, by Wild Orchid Crafts! That reminds me that WOC has in some new things which you will want to check out: Vintage Seam Binding in so many luscious colors, 3 new colors in Poppy Stem Flowers, and the yummiest Trellis Roses in two sizes.
To display my sentiment I made a gift box starting with a plain brown cardboard box which is about 7 inches (15 cm) square. I completely covered the box with DP from the Tilda Classic Collection. For the top of the box I used Bazzill for the base and all matting--the DP is from the same Tilda papers. All major panels were machine stitched. The image I used is the lovely Lili of the Valley Garden of Wishes and the sentiment is from the LOTV Inspirational Sentiments--both from the new release. The fairy was stamped on Cryogen White, colored with Copics, adding German Glitter to her wings and star, and cut out with square Nesties. The flowers I used on the box are all from Wild Orchid Crafts: Aster Daisies, 25mm Open Roses, 20mm Open Roses , and 15mm Open Roses. I also added Star Shaped Pearl Beads to the floral treatment to repeat the motif from the image and added Self Adhesive Pearls to soften the corners.
This pic shows the dimension I achieved by propping up each layer of the box top with foam tape. Around the outside of the lid I first used Black Guipure Lace, topped with 5/8" Pink Velvet and thin black satin before adding more roses on MS punched rose leaves. Finally I added small pearl roping to the very top.
I then added a 1 1/4" Pink Silk bow. And something you can't see, but I also added larger pink pearl brads to the bottom of the box as little feet. Whew....did I cover everything??? lolol
I hope you will let me know what you think of my little creation and will pop over to Wild Orchid Challenge to see the lovely creations of the other DT Members and decide to join with us during these two weeks!
